It is recommended to have a complete anatomy ultrasound between weeks 18 and 22 of pregnancy. Your clinician will use this imaging, also known as a level 2 ultrasound, anatomy scan, or anomaly scan, to assess your infant's health and developmental status. In comparison to the earlier level 1 ultrasound, which is used to measure the baby and record its location, a level 2 ultrasound takes a closer look at the different parts of the baby's body. A lot of times, the baby's complete body, including the heart, brain, and other organs, will be inspected. The levels of the umbilical cord and amniotic fluid will also be checked.This ultrasound frequently takes place transabdominally rather than transvaginally like those conducted early in pregnancy.
